Hydraulic Fracturing, more commonly known as “fracking” has become quite the topic of debate in Morgan County over the past few months. Fracking, a drilling method used to extract natural gas from Marcellus shale found all over West Virginia can provide a big boost to the economy; but some people believe the negative effects fracking will have on the ecosystem outweigh the positive effects on the economy.
Many local citizens have voiced their disapproval with fracking lately along with people all over the United States. Natural gas companies drill wells deep into the earth’s surface creating fractures in the rock or coal formations. The fractures allow gas to flow more freely from the pores of the rock. After the drilling, water, proppants (usually sand), and chemicals are pumped into the fractures to expand them. After the gas is extracted the water has no use and is disposed of, with which most of the controversy lies.
Chemicals such as Hydrochloric Acid, diesel fuel, and Methanol are reportedly injected in or around water sources. Many complaints of tainted drinking water, chemical spills, and even explosions have been reported. Most companies deny many if not all of these allegations.

HTML or Flash for your business website? Which is best for sales?
Y.T.B. (Tech News) Reporter Don Jasper
November 21st 2011
Differences between HTML and Flash sites are huge, 75% of people don’t know they have the wrong type of site for their needs. Many companies look for functionality or aesthetics when developing a website. Is there anything else missing that a company could want in a site? How about how the site will react with marketing, keywords, tags, and search engines?
Depending on the type of website you develop you could be facing many daunting problems with search engine related content. Depending on your choice of Flash or HTML you could be facing many unexpected issues after shelling out thousands of dollars for design. Flash technology depends on embedding tags, keywords, and text within images while HTML is dependant on coding. Since the development of the Internet, Hyper Text Markup Language or HTML4 has been the first widely used and most popular method of site development and early search engine technology and programming. Although HTML was not the first language used for development, the first methods like File Transfer Protocol (FTP) and Gopher Protocol were less functional to advancements thus less attractive to the creative types. Many other methods of design and language followed like Active Server Page (ASP), JavaScript, Ajax, and more.
One reason the masses followed HTML more than other languages was the creation of search engine programming and how they indexed websites to be found. In 1993, there were a few hundred websites around and most were universities, long before they were created there was Archie. Archie was the first search engine created by Alan Emtage, a student at McGill University in Montreal in 1990. It was originally named “Archives,” but was then shortened to “Archie”. This was developed with the concepts in mind of Gerard Salton and his teams at Harvard and Cornell initial indexing research in the 60’s into the 90’s......
As the year 2012 grows nearer, news of the presidential election is abuzz. CBS, Fox News, and MSNBC are running debates and other political news almost 24/7. There is normally one big question for the common voter; “How do I separate fact from opinion?” or simply “Who do I believe?”.
Over the next few weeks I will be posting profiles of the potential presidential candidates. These profiles will include the candidate’s stances on many issues facing the country today, as well as any other information that may be of use to a potential voter. Voting is an important part of this country’s government and being under-informed or misinformed can cause someone to vote for a candidate they do not agree or identify with.
Election time can be confusing to some people because they just don’t know who to vote for. There are many potential candidates with very different views on the many issues facing this country today. Economics, war and national security, and unemployment are three issues that the potential candidates have really focused on in the debates. Going into the voting booth prepared and knowledgeable of the candidates and their views on the country’s policies can make the voting experience much easier.
Follow yourtownbath.com to keep informed on the issues that will ultimately decide the future of this country.
